The NAOOA Seal – What Does it Mean?

A condition of membership in the North American Olive Oil Association is that oil marketed by members must meet the standard for olive oil developed by the International Olive Council. The NAOOA randomly tests its members oils to ensure it meets the standard.

Participants in the NAOOA Seal Program take things a step further. They pay a licensing fee that enables them to put the NAOOA Seal on specific brands and/or types of olive oil. Participation in the program requires additional testing before a product can bear the Seal and additional random testing of product containing the Seal.
